What is ‘the cloud’ and ‘cloud computing’?
The really simple answer is the ‘cloud’ is the storage of your personal data on a remote, but accessible, computer. This means that you can access your data from any geographical place or any device provided you can access the internet.
Information Technology Services has more information about Cloud Computing and the cloud computing policy (draft as at Sept 2012).
What do I need to be concerned about with ‘cloud computing’?
There is some risk that information can be accessed by unauthorised people or that the cloud provider moves out of business.
If you want to use cloud computing in your teaching, read about Cloud Computing in the University, talk to ITS, and understand the implications of your choices.
